Generation Y, enterprise and the recession

Hi - I thought I'd start by flagging up an article on a subject close to our hearts here at beyondoxbridge, young entrepreneurs...
You may have caught our recent article on 'Generation Y'. Well, Luke Johnson, who runs Risk Capital Partners and is chairman of Channel 4, in today's FT reckons that we could be one of the most entrepreneurial in history.
See "Rites of passage for young entrepreneurs"
He says that the "internet has helped unleash ambition and enterprise in an unprecedented way". But what Mr. Johnson is really interested in is how we are coping with the recession (he might be interested to know that we do not know if we are in a recession, but anyway).
It seems he is more concerned with scoring polictical points (apparently we have it hard from employment legislation and health and safety - why is it so many self-made Brits become market fundamentalists?) than provding advice. What we do learn is that all entrepreneurs suffer set-backs, with some interesting anecdotes.
He concludes: "For those still standing in 2010 there will be considerable opportunities and less competition. The pieces will have been rearranged, and a painful education acquired by many, but we shall eventually emerge from the present darkening skies into the inevitable "broad, sunlit uplands"."
